a day of great success

about 2 or 3 weeks ago, i made a design change which improved a clip of japanese design for better fitting our taiwanese part.
the previous responsible engineer used the old clip (which is of japanese design) and that had proved it improper quite often already. every time we fitted our taiwanese part with the japanese clip, the problem just showed up. after a long investigation me and a well-experienced analysis engineer decided that the problem was from the clip and it was highly necessary to change its design a little bit.
but when i looked at it carefully and in more detail before revising the 3D data, i found more detailed places which required some changes as well. as it is very important to make the assembly easier enough for technicians to work on, i started brainstorming and trying to figure out which else could make the clip a better one.

the house-like one is the clip i'm talking about. the red one is the part to be fitted. when the part is put onto the clip and applied a downward force, the clip will bend inwardly and then the part will slip down and be hooked tightly.

what i change was the shape of the "roof", besides, after being put to computer aided analysis, i was very much sure that my design would be easier for technicians to work on. However, the well-experienced analysis engineer didn't agree with what i did. he thought my design would be harder for fitting in as well as easily broken. he strongly suggested me to simply use japanese design, which he thought was carefully designed and hence better than mine. i still decided to apply my idea, as i believed it would be necessary to redesign a clip which could well match our taiwanese part, instead of simply using a japanese clip. more than that, my one wouldn't be this fragile. IT WILL NOT BE BROKEN!

after 2-week long and anxious waiting, today a pack of new clips came into my hands. me and a technician tried fitting it, the technician told me my design was better! YES! thank God! this was just wonderfully perfect! nothing can be better than this, even now i'm still enjoying the great feeling of jabbing the part downward and hearing the sound "click, click, clrrrrrrrrrrik"! awesome!

after this i really believe taiwanese should be more confident of themselves. not all the japanese designs are perfect, not all the taiwanese designed stuff are of low quality. we should go our own way, just like bon jovi's new song title says "we weren't born to follow".

come back

ok, the title has nothing to do with Utada Hikaru's "Come Back To Me" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moWZEY1UdRE), though it's a nice song and i like it.

the "come back" means every time i come back to taipei i just feel so at home and happy. i guess i'm getting God more and more about His arrangement of relocating me down to san-yi. all He wants me to have is the appreciation for the life and family in taipei which is really very important!

the relationship between me and church is getting better and warmer as well. not until this weekend i realised i need and wish to have spiritual brothers. there have been a few brothers at the church though, i still need some in or close to my age. Jonathan had been a perfect one, but he is not in taiwan anymore; Keith and Kieran had been too, but there are of Jehovah Witness and the religious difference makes it uneasy for me to get closer to them; unless i give up mine, which is impossible.

anyway that doesn't matter at all. let the past be the past, and i look forward to having new ones from God.

i'm not at the starbucks in Yang Ming mountain. geeee......how long has it been since my last coming here? with nora i came, but that was...in March last year, 20 months already? man!

the weather has dropped sharply today, it is freezing on the way up the mountain, but the temperature indoor is just lovely and warm enough to take my jacket off and draft this with warm hands (i draft this on paper for my blog afterwards). hot steam is so peculiarly familiar, the sounds of pouring coffee is nice as well as the greeting of the staff, and as the christmas is coming, the starbucks is of course decorated with christmas trees and fake burning charcoals (which looks quite real and pleasant), the wall in finely painted yellow and square post in earth blood red, round wood tables and cozy couches and the floor in warm colour...well, to name a few...everything here is so perfect and makes this sunday so christmas-alike. oh yes! music! i can't really figure out which music it is, but this atmosphere couldn't be this nice if there were not piano music.

it is just mid-november, i can't wait for the coming of christmas already! how did i spend my christmas last year i can't really remember. i'm shocked that it seems to have been erased from my memory port!

but that doesn't matter. what i remember is i had been regretful for not living my life well before each year's end. this time, winter is here, christmas is coming soon, and i'm gonna enjoy EVERY SINGLE DAY. also, spend some quality time with my family during new year's eve, which i didn't do well last year.

one shot before leaving. good place!

weekend

last night before calling it a day, i ditched words and said it was the crapest friday of the year.

but the crapest friday was then followed by an extremely relaxing saturday, which was today. things like not getting up until nearly 10am, lying-in and watching the series "House" on the sofa had proved it an awesome weekend. oh man, i had been lying in there for like......5 hours! what a lazy crap, eugene!

at 3pm i went throw rubbish away and then set off for starbucks where i planned to study GRE. but just one street to the starbucks, while the traffic light was in red, a girl came to me asking for money. she said she had upset stomach and asked if i could lend her some money for clinic. i replied her i didn't have any cash with me and then left. within 2 minutes i stepped in the starbucks and put myself in the queue, looking at cakes and thinking about what to grab.

just when i was wondering if the girl's gonna show up, there she was! she asked the staff for washroom and then went up the stairs. oh well...it didn't feel good to me. i started picturing scene like "the cake and latte are gonna come into a part of me and then 'ah ha there you are', the girl came to me and asked me 'did you just tell me you had no cash'? and then i replied 'oh well, what makes you think i will take out money to a girl i have never met? you think i'm stupid? do you look so?'"

man...the scene wasn't pleasant at all, i wouldn't be able to concentrate on my study if i decided to stay here...then i made up my mind and left for a kentucky fried chicken nearby which served coffee as well, and which was then my study place. thoguh i had been horribly noisy, especially the screaming of kids made me panic, i became adapted sometime after, completely sinking into new vocabularies. just when today's part was gonna be done, i heard a girl sitting beside me telling her friend to reach her to this phone instead of the other because of the undone payment. heard of this, i thought of the ya-tai number and felt pleased about making the right decision of cancelling the contract. it would be unbearable to keep having that phone, either the reason of bill or the other.

as soon as the part was done, i stepped out of the KFC and was thrilled by a board written some characters. i took a picture after the board holder's permission and then left. it was an ads board which happened to have my name on it. the same stuff also appeared in a 7-11 shop, and i think probably i will start collecting some pictures like this. cool!

Cool Brick

friends know that i love riding motorcycle, every week i ride motorcycle down to San Yi and don't feel tired at all. but last tuesday was just crazy because monday morning i rode down as usual and then was told i would have a meeting with a local supplier back near my home. as that day's work was so hectic that i forgot to register a working car...one spanish class i had to go that night, and no bus at all as well, motorcycle was my only choice. tuesday early morning i rode back to taipei and then participated in the Bible study. and then i had to ride back again that very same night! it wasn't until then i started feeling really exhausted...man it was just so horrible!

but one thing good was that i found a cool brick car at a 7-11 and it just cost NT99, really really cheap! it reminded of my LEGO so much, so i bought it.

by pulling backward the car can be wound up and run when let go.

the assembly quality was not quite good. there were gaps and loosen parts and i remembered i didn't like it at all when i was a little LEGO player and i would try to robust it by rearranging and putting some more bricks. not until then i found actually i had what it takes to be an engineer since very young! haha!

but it's a cool car anyway, see!
